Baños de Agua Santa is located in the province of Tungurahua, only 180 Km south of the capital of the country, Quito. It has 18000 inhabitants, and has a temperature as an eternal spring that can vary between 16 C and 24 C throughout the year.
This city at the feet of the Tungurahua Volcano is located at 1826 meters in a valley full of waterfalls and thermal hot springs. There are five main thermal hot springs heated by Tungurahua Volcano. They have a temperature between 18C and 55 C. The Tungurahua Volcano, also called “the black giant”, has been in an active process since 1999 and is one of the easiest volcanoes to climb in Ecuador. On its slopes there are many small, Indigenous, agricultural villages.
This is one of the most popular cities in the country to practice several adventure sports such as rafting, kayaking, cannoning, rock climbing, bungee jumping, horse riding, mountain biking, hiking, and so on. This town also offers a vibrant night life. There are also more than 100 restaurants and coffee bars. It is also one of the few cities in Ecuador that is handicapped accessible.
